A Proven, Step-by-Step Process for Bin & Feeder Design

Eric Maynard  (Vice President, Jenike & Johanson)

Location: Room 1

Date: Tuesday, October 6

Time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Track: Track A: Material Flow & Storage

Vault Recording: TBD

Bins and feeder units must be designed based on the measured characteristics of the powder or granular bulk solid to be handled. Failure to take these characteristics into account will result in reduced safety and efficiency, with increasing waste throughout the process. Attend this session to learn a step-by-step process for bulk storage system design using the specific flow properties of the stored material and other handling requirements. Topics covered include:

  • An exploration of the requirements that will define your design process
  • The flow properties you must understand to choose the correct silo cylinder, hopper, and feeder equipment for your process
  • A proven and practical step-by-step procedure for designing a bulk storage system, fundamentally based upon the measured characteristics of the powder or granular bulk solid
