Efficiency & Quality in Mixer-Granulation Processes

Paul Mort  (Professor, Department of Materials Engineering, Purdue University)

Location: Room 4

Date: Thursday, April 30

Time: 10:15am - 11:45am

Track: Track D:Solids Processing & Quality

Vault Recording: TBD

This session will cover both solids process efficiency and product quality. For a given scale of interaction in a particulate system, how confident are we of having the right mixture to meet quality requirements? You'll discuss particulate flow and stress fields in unit operations, process integration, control, and optimization, in the context of a particle mixing process. Topics covered include:

  • Simple mixing, with optional cohesive interactions
  • Agglomeration – mixing with a binder
  • Layering – ordered mixing with a binder
