Drying is often the most expensive step in powder processing, and thus has a significant economic impact on the total profitability of the process. Accurate monitoring of humidity and temperature is crucial to the optimization of the drying process in which the liquid portion is removed from the mixture by non-mechanical means. Topics covered include:

  • Achieving homogeneous temperature and uniform drying through continuous and thorough mixing
  • Controlling of the inlet and outlet drying air
  • Fine-tuning important product properties such as powder particle size, which are critical for dusting and solubility, through automation
